DNA Test Confirms Okoth Obado as Biological Father of Murdered Sharon Otieno’s Unborn Daughter

DNA test results have confirmed that former Migori Governor Okoth Obado is the biological father of the unborn child of Sharon Otieno, a university student who was brutally murdered. The confirmation comes as a chilling detail in a case that has seen extensive media coverage and public outcry.

Sharon Otieno’s lifeless body was discovered in a forest in Homa Bay County in September 2018. A postmortem examination revealed that she had died from “force trauma,” indicating a violent and brutal attack. Sharon, who was seven months pregnant at the time of her death, had sustained multiple stab wounds, which led to the tragic loss of both her life and that of her unborn child.

During the prosecution’s closing statements, the harrowing details of Sharon’s planned murder were laid bare. The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) provided a detailed account of how Sharon’s demise was orchestrated. The court heard that on the day of her murder, Sharon received a call from the second accused, Michael Oyamo, who was also the assistant to Okoth Obado.

The prosecution detailed that Oyamo summoned Sharon to a meeting at a hotel in Rongo, under the pretense of discussing important matters. Unbeknownst to Sharon, this meeting would seal her fate. She was later abducted, and her brutalized body was found shortly afterward, sparking a nationwide demand for justice.

The prosecution argued that Sharon’s murder was a premeditated act, meticulously planned and executed. The court was told that the call from Oyamo was part of a deliberate strategy to lure Sharon to a location where she could be abducted and silenced permanently. This revelation painted a grim picture of the lengths to which the accused were allegedly willing to go to eliminate Sharon and her unborn child.

The case has been closely watched by the public, with many expressing their horror and sadness over the brutal murder of a young woman and her unborn child. The confirmation of Okoth Obado as the father of Sharon’s unborn baby adds a layer of complexity to the case, raising questions about motive and responsibility.

As the trial progresses, the court is expected to hear more testimonies and examine further evidence that will shed light on the events leading up to Sharon’s death. The ODPP has emphasized the importance of justice for Sharon Otieno and her family, vowing to pursue the case with the utmost diligence.

The murder of Sharon Otieno has not only highlighted the issue of gender-based violence in Kenya but has also prompted calls for greater protection for women, especially those who find themselves in vulnerable situations. The case continues to resonate with many who seek justice and an end to such heinous crimes.
