A Timeless Love: How Family Interference Kept Zari and Shakib Apart for Five Years

In a revelation on his YouTube channel, Shakib Cham, the husband of Zari Hassan, shared an intriguing love story that was marked by persistence, admiration, and a lengthy separation influenced by family dynamics. Shakib admitted that his admiration for Zari began long before they started dating, setting the stage for a love story that would span years and overcome significant hurdles.

Shakib, a long-time admirer of Zari, recalled their first meeting in South Africa. It was a moment that seemed straight out of a romantic movie. He followed her car to a destination, a move that initially scared Zari. “When I followed her for long, she was scared, walked straight to the security mall and came out, walked straight to the security guy but she saw I wasn’t a threat. I reached her and told her I was a Ugandan, a fan and followed just to say hi,” Shakib recounted. Despite the initial fear, Zari saw no threat in Shakib, which marked the beginning of their acquaintance.

Their paths crossed again at a birthday party where Zari was the guest of honor. Shakib, determined to catch her attention, tried to make eye contact. “At the time, Zari wasn’t with anybody. I was trying to get her attention through eye contact but then I didn’t get it. She suddenly looked at me and made eye contact,” he said. This fleeting moment of connection was enough for Shakib to decide to approach her later at an after-party.

The night stretched into the early hours as Shakib stayed longer than planned, dancing and getting to know Zari. Despite the attempts of other men to make him leave, Shakib’s persistence paid off when he got Zari’s number and asked for a chance to be with her. This, however, was just the beginning of their tumultuous journey.

Shakib revealed that there were significant obstacles, primarily from family members who were against their relationship. “People were against him because of the profile of men Zari had dated before him and that he did not fall under any,” Shakib explained. Despite not being at the same social status as Zari’s previous partners, Shakib’s feelings remained steadfast. However, due to family pressures, Zari had to cut him off.

This separation lasted five years, a period during which both navigated their own lives separately. The distance, however, did not diminish their feelings for each other. Their reunion came at a party in Uganda, marking the end of their long separation.

When they reunited, it was clear that their connection had endured the test of time and familial disapproval. Shakib’s admiration for Zari, which he described as seeing her as a “goddess,” remained unchanged.
