Absa Bank Kenya Launches ‘Change Your Story’ Campaign to Promote Digital Banking

Absa Bank Kenya has launched an innovative new campaign titled “Change Your Story,” aimed at rewarding customers who actively engage with the bank’s digital channels and card payment services. The campaign, which runs until December 31, 2024, offers a variety of exciting prizes, including weekly draws, fuel vouchers, fine dining experiences, and paid holiday trips to popular Kenyan destinations like the Maasai Mara, Ol Pejeta, Amboseli National Park, and Nairobi National Park. Additionally, the campaign features a monthly grand prize draw, where three lucky winners will have the chance to win Ksh.1 million each.

Bridging the Gap in Digital Banking

Moses Muthui, Absa Bank Kenya’s Consumer Banking Director, emphasized that the “Change Your Story” campaign aligns with the bank’s broader mission to support digital banking adoption in Kenya. He highlighted that this initiative goes beyond mere rewards, aiming to close the gap in digital banking by encouraging Kenyans to transition from cash-heavy transactions to more secure, convenient, and user-friendly digital and card transactions.

“The ‘Change Your Story’ campaign is aligned with our brand promise and goes beyond rewarding our customers. It seeks to bridge the gap in digital banking among Kenyans, promoting a shift from cash-heavy transactions to secure, convenient, and user-friendly digital and card transactions,” said Muthui. He further added, “This initiative is one of many steps we are taking to support our customers’ stories by building a more inclusive financial ecosystem, where every transaction has the potential to transform lives.”

How to Participate in the Campaign

Participation in the “Change Your Story” campaign is straightforward and inclusive for both existing and new customers. To enter the draws, participants are required to sign up for an Absa card and use digital channels for their daily transactions. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to join:

  1. Sign Up for an Absa Card: New participants must open a new Absa account and obtain a debit card or apply for a new Absa credit card. This step is mandatory for new customers who wish to join the campaign.
  2. Frequent Use of Digital Channels: Once signed up, participants can increase their chances of winning by frequently using Absa’s digital channels. The bank encourages customers to integrate digital and card transactions into their daily routines, making financial management easier and more convenient.
  3. Additional Entries through Transactions: Customers can earn additional entries into the draw by:
    • Spending a minimum of Ksh.1,000 on their debit or credit card at any point of sale or online.
    • Depositing Ksh.10,000 weekly into their current or savings account.
    • Conducting at least five transactions weekly on the Absa Kenya App, Internet Banking, or using the USSD code *224#.

Promoting Financial Inclusion and Digital Adoption

The campaign is designed not only to reward participants but also to educate and encourage a broader audience on the advantages of digital banking. By offering attractive incentives, Absa Bank aims to drive a cultural shift towards digital payments, which are more secure, efficient, and convenient than traditional cash transactions. This aligns with global trends where digital banking has become the norm, driven by advancements in technology and a growing emphasis on convenience and security.
