Acadian Plant Health Biostimulants Show Promising Results in California Almond Water Use Study

It’s been revealed that Acadian Plant Health™ has recently disclosed expanded findings from a prolonged study on water usage in California almond cultivation, underscoring how their biostimulant technologies effectively curtail water consumption and alleviate plant stress while preserving crop yields.

Almonds, a cornerstone of California’s agricultural economy and a leading export crop, rank among the state’s top three crops by economic value. As local water reduction initiatives aim to slash almond industry water usage by 20% between 2020 and 2025 amid persistent water scarcity challenges, empowering growers with efficient tools becomes paramount. Against a backdrop of escalating drought concerns, biostimulant technologies emerge as increasingly pertinent for agricultural practitioners.

The initiative, initiated in May 2021 by Dr. Guilia Marino and her team from UC Davis Cooperative Extension Orchard Systems at the expansive Kearney Agriculture Research and Extension Center, involved applying Acadian Organic treatments to selected almond trees. Rigorous weekly evaluations of midday stem water potential consistently exhibited enhanced water retention capabilities and increased kernel weight across both standard and water-deficient irrigation scenarios.
