Agony of Pupils Braving Scorching Sun While Learning in Teso North

Kolanya Boys Primary School, once the pride of Teso North Sub-County in Busia, has seen better days. Known for topping the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) exams for many years, the school now faces severe infrastructural challenges that put the lives of over 600 learners at risk.

Dilapidated Infrastructure

Today, the school’s classrooms are marked by huge cracks on their walls, posing a significant danger to the pupils who attend classes there daily. Principal Caroline Isapuke expressed deep concern over the deteriorating conditions, emphasizing the urgent need for intervention.

“This school is in dire condition. It is uninhabitable and is of great danger to the learners. We have the risk of jigger infestation because of the incomplete classrooms with dusty floors,” Isapuke stated.

Young learners are forced to brave the scorching sun and dusty conditions, which hampers their ability to concentrate and learn effectively.
