Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou recently addressed the growing speculation surrounding Bayern Munich winger Mathys Tel and his potential move to North London. The young French forward has been linked with a transfer away from the Bundesliga leaders, and Spurs are reportedly among the clubs keen on securing his services.
Tel, who enjoyed a strong campaign under former Bayern boss Thomas Tuchel last season, registered seven goals and five assists. “I can’t tell you anything about Tel,” Postecoglou stated in his post-match press conference. “I’ve been focusing on getting the team prepared tonight. Other people are working in the background. As I’ve said all along, I’m allowing them to get on with it, and when, and if, there’s any news, I’m sure I’ll find out.”
Despite Postecoglou’s reluctance to comment on the situation, the links between Tottenham and Tel continue to grow. The winger’s potential arrival could provide much-needed attacking reinforcements for Spurs, who have already strengthened their squad this transfer window with the acquisition of goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky.
