In a remarkable turn of events, Asunta Wagura, the renowned anti-HIV/Aids crusader from Kenya, has welcomed twin girls at the age of 60. After living positively with HIV for over 34 years, Asunta’s journey has taken an unexpected twist with the arrival of her twins, making her a mother of seven children. Sharing the joyous news on her Facebook page, Asunta expressed disbelief at the plot twist life had thrown her way, describing the experience as both a fulfillment and a revolution of her soul.
Despite the challenges she faced after being diagnosed with HIV in 1988, Asunta became a beacon of hope by founding the Kenyan Network of Women with Aids (Kenwa) to combat stigma and provide support to those affected by the virus. Through Kenwa, she and her team embarked on home visits, offering essential supplies, bed management, and care to thousands of individuals. This dedication not only transformed Asunta into a renowned activist but also inspired countless others to join the fight against HIV/Aids stigma. Now, as she embraces motherhood once again in her sixties, Asunta’s story serves as a powerful testament to resilience, courage, and the limitless possibilities of the human spirit.
