Pop superstar Beyonce has stepped forward to aid victims of the devastating wildfires sweeping through southern California. The singer announced a generous $2.5 million donation to the LA Fire Relief Fund via her BeyGOOD Foundation. The fund aims to support families in the Altadena and Pasadena areas who have lost their homes, as well as provide resources to churches and community centers addressing immediate needs.
A statement on the foundation’s Instagram page reads, “Los Angeles, we stand with you. BeyGOOD is taking action by announcing the LA Fire Relief Fund with a donation of 2.5 million dollars.”
The wildfires, which erupted on January 7, have claimed at least 24 lives and displaced over 100,000 people. Thousands of homes, including those of celebrities like Mel Gibson, Paris Hilton, and Billy Crystal, have been destroyed.
Beyoncé’s contribution comes alongside significant donations from major corporations. The Walt Disney Company pledged $15 million to rebuild affected communities, while Paramount and Fox Corp. each donated $1 million to the American Red Cross and the Los Angeles Fire Department.
Meanwhile, Prince Harry and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, have also joined relief efforts. The royal couple, who reside in Montecito, roughly 90 miles north of the affected areas, have been seen distributing food and supplies to wildfire victims in Pasadena. They also took time to meet with first responders and displaced families. Reports suggest the couple has offered their $14 million Montecito mansion as a refuge for friends fleeing the fires.
In light of the disaster, Meghan has postponed the release of her highly anticipated Netflix series, With Love, Meghan. Originally set to premiere on January 15, the show has been delayed to March 4 at the Duchess’s request, allowing focus to remain on relief efforts.
With over 100,000 people displaced, the combined efforts of celebrities, corporations, and volunteers continue to offer hope and support to those impacted by the tragedy.
