A businessman who was abducted earlier this week in Nakuru CBD has been found dead. The deceased, Sadat Kilonzo, was taken from a marketplace in Nakuru’s Central Business District on Monday, June 17. His body was discovered on Wednesday, sparking outrage and demands for justice from the community and local leaders.
Nakuru Town East MP David Gikaria, a member of the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA), addressed the National Assembly on Thursday, June 19, issuing four critical demands in response to the incident. Gikaria, visibly moved by the tragic news, called for immediate and thorough investigations to bring the perpetrators to justice.
“This heinous act has not only taken the life of a promising businessman but also instilled fear and insecurity among the residents of Nakuru. We cannot allow such acts of violence to go unpunished,” Gikaria stated.
Gikaria’s four demands are as follows:
- Swift and Comprehensive Investigation: The MP has called upon the National Police Service to conduct a swift and comprehensive investigation into Kilonzo’s abduction and murder. He emphasized the need for transparency and accountability in the investigation process.
- Increased Security in Nakuru CBD: Gikaria urged the Ministry of Interior and Coordination of National Government to enhance security measures in Nakuru’s Central Business District to prevent similar incidents in the future. He stressed the importance of safeguarding businesspeople and residents alike.
- Support for the Deceased’s Family: Recognizing the trauma and loss faced by Kilonzo’s family, Gikaria demanded that the government provide support to them during this difficult time. This includes financial assistance and counseling services to help them cope with their loss.
- Community Involvement in Security Matters: The MP highlighted the need for greater community involvement in security matters. He proposed the establishment of community policing initiatives to foster collaboration between residents and law enforcement agencies.
Kilonzo’s abduction and subsequent murder have sent shockwaves through the Nakuru business community, with many calling for justice and better protection. His motorcycle, which was recovered at a police station, has raised further questions about the circumstances surrounding his death.
As investigations continue, Gikaria and other local leaders are pushing for swift action to ensure that those responsible are held accountable. The community remains on edge, awaiting answers and hoping for a resolution that will restore a sense of security and justice in Nakuru.
In the meantime, Gikaria has vowed to keep the pressure on the relevant authorities, ensuring that the case does not fade into obscurity and that meaningful steps are taken to prevent such tragedies in the future.
