China-Kenya relations, a cornerstone of the broader China-Africa partnership, were highlighted as thriving and mutually beneficial during celebrations marking four decades of Chinese government scholarships. At a meeting of the Kenya-China Alumni Association on Friday, Minister Counsellor Zhang Zhizhong of the Chinese Embassy in Nairobi underscored the significance of the ties, hailing them as being “at their best in history.”
The event, which brought together alumni of various Chinese educational and training programs, emphasized the crucial role these individuals play in fostering deeper cooperation and solidarity between China and Africa. Minister Counsellor Zhang lauded the alumni for their potential to act as bridges between the two regions.
“I firmly believe that alumni could play a unique and important role in this process, carrying forward the spirit of China-Africa friendship and cooperation,” Zhang said. He highlighted the importance of human connections in sustaining the partnership, stating, “History is made by the people. The prosperity of China-Africa cooperation is created and promoted by the people.”
