In a groundbreaking announcement, China has revealed a prototype of its next-generation high-speed train, the CR450, which is set to become the fastest rail vehicle on the planet. Unveiled in Beijing on December 29, 2024, the CR450 prototype has already achieved remarkable test speeds, setting the stage for a revolution in the world of rail travel.
According to China’s Ministry of Transport, the CR450 has reached test speeds of up to 450 kilometers per hour (281 miles per hour), with an operational speed expected to hover around 400 kilometers per hour (248.5 miles per hour) once it enters service. If successful, this would surpass the speed of China’s current high-speed marvel, the CR400, which debuted in 2017 and operates at 350 kilometers per hour (217 miles per hour).
