Cabinet Secretary for Labour and Social Protection, Dr. Alfred Nganga Mutua, has officially launched a campaign aimed at uniting Kamba community leaders to ensure their active involvement in the current and future governments. Speaking at a meeting held at Maanzoni Lodge in Machakos County, Dr. Mutua outlined his vision for the Kamba community, emphasizing the need for unity among leaders for the betterment of Machakos, Makueni, and Kitui counties.
The meeting brought together a diverse group of Kamba leaders, including MPs, professionals, and religious figures, all focused on discussing key issues facing the community. Dr. Mutua stressed that the lack of unity among Kamba leaders has led to the region’s exclusion from government decision-making processes, hindering the community’s development. He cited other communities, particularly the Luo Nyanza region, which has benefited from development due to their leaders’ collaboration with the national government.
Dr. Mutua’s dream is to bring all Kamba leaders, including Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, to a roundtable to discuss and address critical issues such as the need for the community to be included in government affairs. Additionally, he called for large-scale infrastructure projects, particularly roads and water initiatives, that would uplift the living standards of Kamba residents.
The CS emphasized the importance of mutual respect among leaders, underscoring that even if opinions differ, figures like Kalonzo Musyoka deserve respect for their role in shaping the community’s future. He called on Kamba leaders to look beyond personal differences and work together for the collective benefit of the region.
The meeting was attended by prominent figures such as MPs Mwengi Mutuse, Caleb Mutiso, Rachael Nyamai, and Joshua Mwalyo, as well as Fred wa Muteti, Chairman of the Special Economic Zones Authority. The leaders unanimously called on the national government to initiate development projects that would transform the three counties and improve the lives of their residents.
This initiative signals a new chapter for the Kamba community, one that could potentially influence political and developmental progress in the region.
