The mid-Atlantic region, including Washington, D.C., is experiencing an intense heat wave, with temperatures predicted to reach 100 degrees on Sunday. This marks the hottest weather in the city since August 15, 2016, and could come close to its all-time June record of 104 degrees. In response, Mayor Muriel Bowser has extended the city’s heat emergency until early next week, urging residents and visitors to take precautions against heat-related illnesses and to check on their neighbors.
