Director of Criminal Investigations Mohamed Amin has called on police leaders to prioritize effective service delivery to enhance public safety and trust. Addressing senior officers from various regional commands and units of the Administration Police Service (APS) during a conference in Kwale, Amin emphasized the need for exemplary service as a cornerstone of the National Police Service’s mission.
The conference, themed “Transforming the police to meet service delivery expectations,” provided a platform for discussing critical operational and managerial concepts essential for modern policing. Amin highlighted that the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has a dedicated team of experts ready to streamline workflows and improve service delivery across the board. He reiterated the DCI’s commitment to advancing professional criminal investigations, which are vital for combating crime and ensuring justice for all citizens.
Amin’s address underscored the importance of adapting policing strategies to meet the evolving needs of communities. The APS roadmap to service delivery revitalization strategy was also introduced, aiming to foster public trust and enhance policing effectiveness. Key areas of focus during the conference included evaluating performance metrics and reviewing existing service delivery strategies to better align with community expectations.
The presence of notable figures such as Deputy Inspector General of Police Eliud Lagat and Deputy Inspector General of APS Gilbert Masengeli further highlighted the significance of this initiative. The discussions also touched on emerging security trends and leadership challenges facing law enforcement today, emphasizing a collective approach to enhancing police-community relations.
In his remarks, Amin pointed out that addressing public safety concerns requires not only effective crime prevention strategies but also fostering an environment where citizens feel secure in their communities. He called for a renewed commitment from police officers at all levels to uphold integrity, transparency, and accountability in their operations.
The conference is seen as a pivotal step towards transforming the National Police Service into an institution that meets contemporary security challenges while maintaining public confidence. By prioritizing service delivery, Amin aims to create safer communities across Kenya, ensuring that the police are viewed as partners in security rather than enforcers alone.
As the DCI continues its mission under Amin’s leadership, the focus remains on building trust with the public through enhanced communication and collaboration. This approach is expected to lead to more effective policing strategies that resonate with the needs and expectations of Kenyan citizens.
