Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Kilimani have successfully apprehended Meshack Kipleting Tarbei, a notorious serial fraudster, after a year-long search. Tarbei, who is the Director of Motorshop E.A Ltd, was evading capture following numerous reports of fraudulent activities that left several unsuspecting members of the public financially stranded.
Tarbei’s operations were centered at his office in Marsabit Plaza along Ngong Road, Nairobi. He allegedly lured victims through dishonest means, offering various automotive services, only to abruptly close his shop and disappear with their money. At least nine individuals had reported his fraudulent activities to the Kilimani Police Station, sparking a widespread investigation into his operations.
After receiving multiple complaints, the DCI launched an intensive manhunt for Tarbei. The operation finally culminated in his arrest at King Serenity Estate in Rongai, where he had been hiding. The suspect was quickly transported to the DCI Kilimani offices for processing in preparation for his court appearance.
According to investigators, the arrest is a significant breakthrough in tackling fraud in the city, but it is likely that more victims exist. DCI detectives are working to consolidate additional reports from other police stations across Nairobi to ensure that all those affected by Tarbei’s actions receive justice.
The investigation into Tarbei’s fraudulent network continues, and authorities are urging any other victims to come forward and report their experiences. This case serves as a reminder of the importance of due diligence when engaging in business transactions, especially in industries like automotive services where fraud can be rampant.
With his capture, Tarbei faces serious legal consequences for his role in defrauding the public, and the DCI is committed to ensuring that justice is served for all his victims.
