Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has emphasized the government’s commitment to ensuring that every part of Kenya benefits from development projects aimed at improving the livelihoods of all citizens. Speaking at the Official Residence in Karen on Friday, Kindiki assured the 1500 Embu County residents in attendance that no region would be left behind in the government’s development agenda.
“We are carrying the entire country along. We want to ensure that no part of the country is left behind. Leadership is not about favoring one over the other, it is about carrying everyone along,” said the Deputy President. This message of inclusivity highlights the government’s drive to promote equal development across the nation, ensuring that all Kenyans, regardless of their location, benefit from key government initiatives.
Kindiki emphasized the importance of involving local communities in the development process, urging Embu residents to identify their county’s key priorities and actively monitor their progress. “It is good to meet and have a dialogue with the people. This meeting is solely to discuss development priorities and how to move the county forward,” he explained. The Deputy President committed to meeting with delegations from all counties in similar discussions, reinforcing his intention to prioritize development over politics.
Referring to his mandate, Kindiki made it clear that he was focused solely on fulfilling the promises made to the Kenyan people. “When we go back to the people, I will have to account for the time I have been in this office. I have no choice but to deliver on the mandate I have been assigned. Improving the lives of the people is what is keeping me awake,” he said.
The Deputy President also addressed the issue of political distractions, reassuring residents that his engagement with them would be centered around addressing their concerns and not on politics. “It will be the height of political irresponsibility to call you and start discussing politics when we have so many other important matters to discuss. We will not allow ourselves to be dragged into early political campaigns,” Kindiki asserted.
Under the current administration, Embu County has seen significant developments in sectors such as roads, agriculture, and electricity. Kindiki called for continued focus on issues affecting coffee, tea, Muguka, road infrastructure, youth, and women empowerment. He challenged the people of Embu to hold him accountable for the progress of these initiatives.
“We need to sort out issues in coffee, tea, Muguka and roads, electricity connection, youth and women empowerment. After this meeting, put pressure on me, ask me what I have done for Embu people,” the Deputy President concluded, reaffirming his commitment to serving the needs of the people.
