Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu has committed KSh5 million for the construction of a state-of-the-art laboratory and the donation of 40 computers at Karega Secondary School. This initiative is part of a broader effort to promote ICT learning among students and bridge the digital divide in Kenya’s education system.
During his visit to Karega Secondary School in Kigumo, Murang’a County, CS Machogu underscored the government’s dedication to nurturing the potential of young learners. “The education of our youth is paramount, given their potential to shape the future,” he remarked, emphasizing the importance of equipping students with the necessary tools and skills for the digital age.
The financial pledge is just one aspect of the Ministry of Education’s broader financial strategy for the year. The Ministry has announced a budget of KSh658 billion for the 2023/2024 fiscal year, marking a notable increase from the previous year’s allocation of KSh628 billion. This budget will be utilized to ensure the smooth remittance of capitation across all educational levels, support the employment of teachers in junior secondary schools (JSS), and advance various infrastructure programs.
