The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has opened its portal for applications to Teacher Training Colleges (TTCs) for the September 2025 intake. A total of 13,823 slots are available for prospective students looking to pursue Diploma in Primary and Secondary Teacher Education. The application window will remain open until March 20, 2025.
Currently, three colleges offer the Diploma in Secondary Teacher Education, with a total capacity of 2,735 students. Meanwhile, 33 TTCs will admit students into the Diploma in Primary Teacher Education, with 11,088 available slots. This presents an opportunity for interested candidates, particularly from the 2024 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) cohort, as well as those from previous years.
To qualify for admission into the Diploma in Primary Teacher Education, applicants must have a minimum KCSE mean grade of C (plain) or an equivalent qualification. Those interested in the Diploma in Secondary Teacher Education must attain at least a C+ in KCSE or an equivalent certification. Individuals with other qualifications must seek certification from the Kenya National Qualifications Authority (KNQA) before proceeding with their applications.
KUCCPS has emphasized that applications are open to both Kenyan and non-Kenyan citizens. The application process is strictly online through the KUCCPS student portal, accessible at www.kuccps.ac.ke. Applicants have been advised to be cautious of fraudulent individuals and websites that may attempt to take advantage of unsuspecting candidates.
For those in need of assistance with the application process, KUCCPS has outlined multiple support options. Applicants can visit KUCCPS headquarters at ACK Garden House, 1st Ngong Avenue, in the Community Area of Nairobi. Additionally, services are available at any of the 58 Huduma Centres across the country or at the listed TTCs.
Speaking about the application process, KUCCPS CEO Agnes Wahome urged prospective students to take advantage of the opportunity before the deadline. “We encourage all interested and qualified candidates to apply early and seek assistance where necessary to avoid last-minute rushes,” she stated.
With the portal now open, aspiring teachers have ample time to prepare their applications and secure a place in the next cohort of teacher trainees.
