The Visa Oshwal religious community has donated food supplies worth Ksh 1.1 million to support education and vulnerable communities.
The donation included a one-month supply of assorted food commodities valued at Ksh 350,000 for St. John’s High School Kangii in Machakos County. The food package, which contained rice, maize, beans, cooking oil, and sugar, was officially handed over to the school’s board chairman, Dr. Benjamin Musau, at the Visa Oshwal religious centre in Westlands, Nairobi.
Speaking during the handover, Bindi Shah, chairperson of the Visa Oshwal religious centre, emphasized the community’s commitment to supporting education through food security.
Dr. Musau expressed his gratitude, noting that the donation would ensure uninterrupted learning at St. John’s High School Kangii by addressing food security concerns for students. He commended the Visa Oshwal community for its consistent philanthropic efforts in uplifting educational institutions.
Beyond the school donation, the religious community extended its humanitarian efforts to Mukutani in Baringo County, a region severely affected by drought and banditry attacks. The community donated 600 packets of food hampers worth Ksh 800,000 to assist affected families in the area.
With a total contribution of Ksh 1.1 million, the donation reflects the Shree Visa Oshwal community’s strong commitment to corporate social responsibility and humanitarian aid. The initiative highlights the importance of timely intervention in addressing food insecurity, particularly in schools and vulnerable communities struggling with natural and man-made challenges.
As the country grapples with food shortages and economic hardships, such philanthropic efforts provide much-needed relief and underscore the power of community-driven support in fostering resilience and stability. The Visa Oshwal community continues to lead by example, inspiring other organizations and individuals to step up and contribute towards national welfare.
