The National Police Service Commission (NPSC) has announced the shortlist of candidates for the prestigious positions of Deputy Inspector General Kenya Police Service (DIG-KPS) and Deputy Inspector General Administration Police Service (DIG-APS). The announcement, made by NPSC Chief Executive Officer Peter Leley, highlights eight candidates vying for these significant roles.
Shortlisted Candidates for DIG-KPS:

- Eliud Kipkoech Lagat
- Tom Mboya Odero
- Dr. Vincent Kinas Makokha
Shortlisted Candidates for DIG-APS:
- Gilbert Masengeli
- Margaret Nyambura Karanja
- James Mukuha Kamau
- Dr. Masoud Mwinyi
The interviews for the shortlisted candidates are scheduled for Monday, July 22, 2024, at the Kenya School of Government, Lower Kabete Campus in Nairobi. The session will commence at 9:30 AM, starting with the candidates for the DIG-KPS position. This segment of the interviews will continue until 12:15 PM. The interviews for the DIG-APS candidates will then follow from 2:00 PM to 4:15 PM.
In response to an advertisement by the Commission, a total of 38 individuals applied for the roles of Deputy Inspector General Kenya Police Service and Deputy Inspector General Administration Police Service. Among these, 21 applicants were for the DIG-KPS position, while 13 aimed for the DIG-APS role. However, four applicants did not specify the positions they were applying for: Paul Omondi Okinyi, Brian Wekesa Wanyonyi, Abdirashid Bilali, and Nicholas Mwiti.
As the interview date approaches, the NPSC has called upon the public to provide any pertinent information regarding the candidates. Submissions can be made through written memoranda to the Commission’s chairperson or online. The deadline for these submissions is Monday, July 22, 2024.
