Member of Parliament (MP) Machua Waithaka has unveiled an ambitious initiative aimed at providing full sponsorship for technical short courses. This groundbreaking program, funded by the National Government Constituencies Development Fund (NGCDF), encompasses a wide array of fields including Plumbing, Masonry, Tiling, Cosmetology, Catering, and Electrical Engineering.
During the inauguration of the newly refurbished Kangoya Primary School in Ndumberi, MP Waithaka took the opportunity to announce this transformative initiative, underscoring its potential to equip young individuals with invaluable skills essential for employment and overall socioeconomic advancement.
Waithaka expressed his unwavering commitment to enhancing the lives of the youth by facilitating their enrollment in technical short courses. He emphasized the significance of this initiative as a golden opportunity for the youth in the community to harness their potential and secure a prosperous future.
Eligible candidates are urged to furnish copies of their national ID, their parents’ ID, a birth certificate, two passport photos, and an academic certificate for registration. Registration centers have been set up at the chief’s offices in Ting’ang’a, Riabai, Ndumberi, and Kiambu Township, operational throughout the week.
The timing of this initiative couldn’t be more opportune, considering the substantial youth population in Kiambu County, which stands at an impressive 78 percent according to the 2019 Kenya Population and Housing Census. This underscores the pressing need to invest in educational and vocational programs tailored to empower the youth and harness their potential as future leaders and contributors to society.
Moreover, MP Waithaka’s commitment to improving educational infrastructure is evident through the comprehensive upgrades witnessed at Kangoya Primary School. These upgrades, facilitated by the NG-CDF, encompass the renovation of classrooms, installation of tiles, construction of a perimeter wall, and the addition of modern amenities such as a gate and cabro paving. Such efforts are aimed at fostering an enabling environment conducive to quality education and laying a solid foundation for academic excellence.
Looking ahead, MP Waithaka has assured residents of his ongoing initiatives to enhance primary education across Kiambu, with schools like Ngegu Primary, Kiambu Primary, Kiu-River Primary, Ndumberi, and Ting’ang’a Primary School earmarked for improvement.
