Kenyan actress and comedian Jacky Vike, popularly known as Awinja, recently addressed speculation surrounding her past interactions with Radio 47 host Alex Mwakideu. In a candid conversation during an interview on the station, Mwakideu playfully reminisced about his previous attempt to woo Awinja, saying:
“Nilikukatia, ukanikataa.” (I shot my shot at you, but you rejected me.)
However, Awinja was quick to set the record straight, clarifying that she never outright rejected him.
“I would have accepted you immediately I did not turn him down. He never really made his intentions clear; it was like he wanted me to guess! You can’t just take me out, buy me lunch, and assume I’ll know you want to date me.”
Despite this playful revelation, Mwakideu has long since moved on and is now happily married to Mariam Mwemba. The couple, who have been together for 18 years and married for 10, share three daughters. Mwakideu has often praised his wife for her patience, kindness, and unwavering support, most recently honoring her on International Women’s Day with a heartfelt social media post.
He revealed that he met Mariam in 2006 while he was dating someone else but pursued her persistently over the years. When he eventually moved to Nairobi for work, he seized the opportunity to convince her that he was serious about their relationship. Their love story culminated in a wedding in 2014, and Mwakideu has since remained devoted to her.
While Awinja is known for her vibrant personality and comedic prowess, she has kept her personal life largely out of the public eye. A proud mother of one, the actress has managed to keep fans guessing about her current romantic status. Unlike many celebrities who openly share their love lives on social media, Awinja maintains a level of mystery that keeps her followers intrigued.
Her decision to remain private about her relationships has only fueled speculation, but for now, the actress continues to focus on her flourishing career in entertainment while balancing motherhood. Whether or not she is currently dating remains a mystery one that only Awinja can choose to unveil in her own time.
