Nairobi County’s Chief Environmental Officer, Geoffrey Mosiria, has opened up about his personal decision to quit alcohol, his love for his wife, and the values that shape his family life. Speaking in an interview with Mpasho’s Kalondu Musyimi, Mosiria candidly shared insights into his lifestyle choices and the challenges that come with being in the public eye.
Mosiria, a father of three, revealed that he made a conscious decision to abstain from alcohol, citing health reasons. “I do not drink alcohol because there is no nutritional value in alcohol,” he stated simply. His stance reflects a growing awareness among individuals who choose to live alcohol-free lifestyles for health and personal reasons.
Beyond his views on alcohol, Mosiria also spoke passionately about his wife and marriage. Having been married for nine years, he expressed deep appreciation for his spouse, highlighting the stability and joy that marriage has brought him. “Marriage is a very beautiful thing. It makes you responsible,” he said with a smile.
However, being a public figure has its challenges. Mosiria appealed to Kenyans to stop spreading negative comments about him online, as they deeply affect his wife. He explained that certain hurtful posts leave his wife in a constant state of worry. “Some even write, ‘this one won’t make it to next year.’ You scare my wife. Please give her peace,” he pleaded. He also called for greater understanding, particularly among young people who have not yet experienced the responsibilities of marriage and family life.
Mosiria credits his father for instilling strong values that have guided his marriage. Growing up in a polygamous family with three mothers, he learned conflict resolution, leadership, and the importance of respecting women. His father’s example shaped his perspective on relationships and family dynamics.
In a heartfelt tribute to his wife, he expressed gratitude for her love and dedication. “You have made me a respectable man because you take care of me and our children. I pray God gives you good health and helps us achieve our dream of having a big family, just like my dad, who had 21 children.”
Mosiria’s story reflects the power of love, personal values, and the importance of family in shaping one’s life.
