Nominated Senator Karen Nyamu has firmly denied allegations that she gifted herself flowers on Valentine’s Day, setting the record straight on social media. Currently in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, Nyamu shared a photo of herself holding a bouquet, accompanied by a message advising women that if a man truly wanted to make an effort, he would.
“Kama zangu zilitoka Kanairo na zikafika Addis, what is his excuse again? If he wanted, he would, sis. Happy Valentine’s Day to you all my loves,” she captioned the post.
However, her post quickly sparked debate in the comment section, with many social media users suggesting that she had purchased the flowers herself. One user, Queenie Jackie, commented, “Hii umenunua na ukajipea, we know you.” In response, Nyamu fired back, questioning why anyone would assume such a thing. “Ni vile niko sura mbaya ama vile sipendeki? Are you really listening to yourself?” she asked.
Another follower, Purity Puri, reassured Nyamu that even if she had bought the flowers herself, it was perfectly fine. “I am 20,000% convinced that you bought them for yourself, which is totally OK.”
Nyamu, however, dismissed the notion, stating, “Self-love yangu haijafika hapo na haitawai.”
Social Media Reactions
The discussion continued as other followers chimed in with mixed opinions. One user, Brian Mwass, jokingly referenced Nyamu’s well-known relationships and suggested she had plenty of admirers to gift her flowers. “Wewe na wanaume uko na Thao mbili… usitupee pressure, wathamido…”
Nyamu playfully challenged him to name names, saying, “Thao mbili alafu umalizie na mmoja… si ungetaja ata watano?”

Nyamu’s Political Focus
Beyond the Valentine’s Day debate, Nyamu recently reassured her supporters that she remains committed to her political career. She expressed eagerness to resume her work in Parliament after the recess, promising to work harder and introduce more bills and motions.
“This year, I will work harder, bring more bills and motions to represent you, and show God why I deserve another chance in 2027,” she stated, urging her followers to pray for her wisdom and fluency in English.
Despite the social media buzz surrounding her personal life, Nyamu remains focused on her political journey, determined to make a lasting impact in Parliament.
