Kenyan television audiences are in for a treat as Sarabi, a gripping new drama series, premieres on Monday, February 24, at 7:30 PM on Maisha Magic Plus. Produced by Lwal Griffin of Reel Pix Media, the show promises a heartfelt exploration of love, betrayal, and redemption, making it one of the most anticipated local productions of the year.
At its core, Sarabi is a deep reflection on human relationships and the unseen ties that connect people across generations. Speaking about the show, Griffin shared his vision, stating that the series is about how lives are “intricately connected” and shaped by both love and the burdens of legacy.
“For me, Sarabi has been a deeply personal journey one of uncovering how our lives are intricately connected to those who came before us,” Griffin explained. “It’s a reflection on how we are shaped not only by love but also by the burdens and legacies we carry forward. I believe Sarabi will resonate not only with Kenyan audiences but with viewers around the world.”
Set against the stunning backdrop of the fictional Vuno Zuri Coffee Farm, the series follows the life of Matthew MacOdimba, a man who starts working as a coffee picker on the plantation. There, he meets Annabel, the only daughter of the wealthy plantation owners. Their passionate romance is, however, short-lived as Annabel’s mother, Rita, intervenes, forcing them apart. What follows is a tale of emotional turmoil as both Matthew and Annabel struggle with feelings of love, loss, and betrayal.
The inspiration behind Sarabi stems from Griffin’s desire to explore the complexities of love and how it is shaped by time, perception, and circumstance.
“Sarabi was born out of a profound desire to delve into the complexities of love, legacy, and the bonds that define us,” Griffin said. “The series explores the idea that love, in many ways, can be a mirage an illusion shaped by our perceptions and circumstances. Yet, in all its forms, love transcends time, revealing both its fragility and its power.”
With its compelling narrative, stunning cinematography, and emotionally charged performances, Sarabi is poised to captivate viewers from its very first episode. As the clock ticks down to its premiere, fans of Kenyan drama can expect a series that not only entertains but also sparks conversations about love, destiny, and family legacies.
