The MTV Staying Alive Foundation has officially announced the cast for the upcoming season of MTV Shuga Mashariki, marking the show’s thrilling return to Kenya after more than a decade. From October 11th to 13th, aspiring actors gathered at the University of Nairobi’s main campus for open auditions, eager to secure a role in the iconic series. The auditions provided a unique platform for emerging talent to showcase their skills and join a show that has resonated with millions across Africa. In addition to in-person tryouts, the production team also accepted virtual submissions, ensuring that talented individuals from all corners of Kenya could participate in the casting process.
The newly unveiled cast includes Serah Wanjiru, Basil Mungai, Matthew Ngugi, Wilson Muchemi, Fatuma Gichuru, Julie Brenda, Fridah Mumbe, Mariam Bishar, and Makena Kahuha. These actors will bring to life stories that reflect the real challenges and triumphs of young people in Kenya, addressing issues such as gender norms, relationships, and societal pressures.
