Renowned media personality Mwende Macharia has revealed that she is strongly considering venturing into politics in the 2027 general elections. Speaking on her YouTube channel in a candid conversation with fellow media personality Anthony Ndiema, Mwende shared that the desire to lead has been growing in her for some time.
During the interview, Ndiema acknowledged Mwende’s remarkable growth in the media industry and her intentional approach to her career. She responded with confidence, stating, “Maisha hainipeleki, mi napeleka maisha” (Life does not control me, I control life), emphasizing her proactive mindset.
When directly asked whether she has political ambitions, Mwende intriguingly replied, “Wait and see.” Ndiema, having observed her recent engagements, noted that she seemed to be leaning toward leadership. “Would you want to get into politics? What does your corporate tomorrow look like, other than media?” he asked.
Mwende admitted that the thought of joining politics had been on her mind for some time, even though she was initially hesitant. “A few days ago, I was having this conversation, and someone was encouraging me to start. At first, I was in denial. I even thought of waiting until 2032, but then I asked myself, ‘Why not now?’” she revealed.
The mother of two expressed her deep passion for leadership and service, stating, “I love leadership, I love servant-hood. I love mentoring and championing rights. So if I can serve through politics, I wouldn’t mind.” This statement strongly hinted that she is indeed considering a political path, though she has yet to officially declare her candidacy.
The conversation also touched on her departure from her previous job, an issue that had sparked curiosity among her fans. Her former boss, who was also present during the discussion, admitted that she was a difficult employee to manage, attributing this to her strong-willed nature. “A lot of people who manage others might find it hard to work with you,” he told her. Mwende agreed with a laugh, acknowledging her outspoken and determined personality.
She further disclosed that financial struggles within the company contributed to her exit. “There were problems in the company; we were not being paid. I had to take the lead in asking tough questions and making hard decisions, including stepping away from the studio,” she stated.
Mwende’s revelations have sparked excitement and speculation among her fans, with many eagerly waiting to see if she will officially launch a political career in 2027. If she does, her experience as a media personality, mentor, and advocate will undoubtedly shape her leadership journey.
