Oscar-winning actor Nicolas Cage has been dismissed from a civil lawsuit filed by his ex-girlfriend, Christina Fulton, over an alleged assault by their son, Weston Cage. The claims against Cage were removed from the lawsuit following legal arguments asserting that the actor was not responsible for his adult son’s actions.
The lawsuit, filed in February, accused Weston Cage of assault and battery and included allegations of negligence against Nicolas Cage. Fulton claimed that the Hollywood star failed to prevent their son’s alleged violent behavior despite being aware of his long history of mental and psychological disorders. However, according to US media reports, the court has now dismissed all claims against Cage, effectively removing him from the case.
At the time of the lawsuit’s filing, Cage’s legal team dismissed the allegations as “frivolous,” arguing that the actor had no control over his 34-year-old son’s actions. A statement from Cage’s lawyers emphasized that he “does not control Weston’s behavior in any manner and is not responsible for Weston’s alleged assault of his mother.”
Weston Cage remains the sole defendant in the ongoing lawsuit. Fulton alleges that he attacked her in a “manic rage” without provocation in April 2024, leaving her with a concussion, neck and throat injuries, dental and abdominal trauma, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Despite these accusations, Weston Cage has denied any wrongdoing.
The case has drawn further attention due to Weston Cage’s previous legal troubles. In June 2023, he was arrested and charged with two felony counts of assault with a deadly weapon. He pleaded not guilty to both charges, and legal proceedings are ongoing.
Weston Cage’s attorney has previously dismissed the lawsuit as a “money grab and call for attention,” pointing to what he described as Christina Fulton’s history of litigation against family members. Meanwhile, Fulton maintains that Nicolas Cage’s financial support of their son enabled his violent tendencies, though the court has ruled that such claims are insufficient to hold the actor legally accountable.
With Cage officially removed from the lawsuit, all attention now shifts to the legal battle between Fulton and her son as the case moves forward in court.
