Kenyan R&B singer Njerae has kicked off 2025 with a heartfelt musical gift for her fans, releasing her latest EP, Four Letter Word, on Valentine’s Day. The project, which delves into the intricacies of love, arrives as a perfect addition to listeners’ Valentine’s Day playlists, offering a mix of soulful melodies and deeply emotional lyricism.
The release of Four Letter Word comes at a significant moment in Njerae’s career, shortly after she was named one of Apple Music’s Africa Rising Stars for 2025. This recognition places her among the most promising talents from Kenya and East Africa, further cementing her position as a rising star in the region’s music industry.
The EP features four tracks, each exploring different aspects of love and relationships. The lineup includes Fight for You (produced by Wondamagik), Beg for It (produced by Kobby Worldwide), Decide (produced by Vic West), and Hypnotize (produced by Kobby Worldwide). Fans got an early taste of the project when Njerae released Beg for It on January 17th. The track quickly gained traction, peaking at #36 on Apple Music’s Top 100 Kenya chart and becoming a crowd favorite at her live performances.
Dubbed the ‘Queen of Love,’ Njerae has always had a knack for creating music that resonates with lovers, hopeful romantics, and those experiencing heartbreak. With Four Letter Word, she aims to capture the full emotional spectrum of love.
“I wanted to create a body of work that captures every facet of love—from passion and desire to obsession and connection,” Njerae explains.
The project marks a return to her musical roots, blending the lessons from her 2024 album, Out with the Old, with the essence of her original style. While her previous project showcased artistic experimentation, Four Letter Word refines and enhances her signature sound, a result of her collaborations with acclaimed producers Wondamagik, Kobby Worldwide, and Vic West.
“This project is about rediscovering myself. I’m blending everything I’ve learned from my past projects with the essence of my original style,” she adds.
As part of the EP’s rollout, Njerae also released the highly-anticipated music video for Beg for It on Valentine’s Day. The visuals complement the song’s emotional intensity, further amplifying the excitement surrounding her new release.
With Four Letter Word, Njerae continues to solidify her place in the music industry, setting the tone for what promises to be an exciting year ahead.
