Renowned English reggae star Don Campbell has landed in Kenya ahead of his much-anticipated performance at the ‘Reggae With A Cause’ concert. The celebrated singer arrived at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport on Tuesday morning, marking his first-ever visit to the country.
The charity event, scheduled for Saturday, February 15, 2025, at the Tsavo Ballroom, KICC, aims to support individuals with hearing impairments. Organized by The Long Trail Community Impact, a Dutch-based nonprofit, the concert seeks to raise awareness and foster inclusivity for the Deaf community in Kenya.
Speaking upon his arrival, Don Campbell expressed his excitement about performing for his Kenyan fans for the first time. “It is a pleasure to be here. It’s even more pleasure that I have come here to support,” he stated.
The reggae star, known for his smooth vocals and timeless hits, acknowledged that this would be his second time performing on the African continent, having previously graced a stage in Harare, Zimbabwe, several years ago. “That was a pleasure to be there back then. That was a few years ago,” he said.
‘Reggae With A Cause’ is set to be one of the biggest reggae concerts in Kenya, with an expected audience of 3,000 to 4,000 attendees. The event will not only feature Don Campbell but also Jamaican reggae stars Alborosie & The Shengen Clan. Additionally, Kenya’s finest reggae artists, including Nazizi and Wyre, alongside top DJs, will grace the stage, making it an unforgettable experience for reggae lovers.
Beyond the music, the concert will champion inclusivity by creating opportunities for the Deaf community. In partnership with Kwale Deaf Centre, individuals with hearing impairments will be actively involved in managing food and beverage sales at the event. Moreover, attendees will have a unique opportunity to learn and use Kenyan Sign Language, breaking stereotypes and empowering the community.
For reggae fans, this concert marks a historic moment—Don Campbell’s debut performance on Kenyan soil. The legendary artist has captivated audiences worldwide, and his presence in Kenya is expected to ignite a new wave of reggae enthusiasm.
With just days left until the highly awaited concert, excitement is at an all-time high. ‘Reggae With A Cause’ is more than just a music festival; it is a movement towards social change, proving that music can indeed be a powerful tool for impact and inclusion.
As Kenya welcomes Don Campbell, reggae enthusiasts are gearing up for an electrifying night of music and purpose at KICC this Saturday.
