Popular TikTok personality Rish Kamunge has sparked fresh controversy after reappearing online to promote job opportunities abroad, despite currently facing legal proceedings for allegedly defrauding Kenyans through her job placement agency.
In a recent post on TikTok, Rish advertised new job vacancies in Qatar, specifically targeting security officer roles for both men and women. She encouraged interested individuals to apply, emphasizing that interviews were scheduled for the upcoming week. The offered positions come with a salary of 1,600 Qatari Riyals, and applicants were instructed to bring a certificate of good conduct along with their CVs. According to her, commissions would only be paid after successful visa acquisition.
This development follows her arrest and court case involving accusations of conning job seekers out of significant sums of money. Despite the legal storm surrounding her, Rish has continued to market her services, claiming to assist clients with visa applications for countries such as Canada, Germany, and others within the Schengen Zone.
Beyond promoting job opportunities, Rish has also announced plans to go live on TikTok to share her side of the story. She requested her followers to help her reach the follower count required to go live, expressing her intention to respond to the ongoing allegations and online criticism.
“I also want to give my side of the story. Follow me and let’s get to a thousand followers so that we can go live. All the questions that you have, I will answer them. It will be unfair that we have only heard one side because I have been seeing things online — why don’t I respond?” she said in one of her videos.
Her return to social media has stirred mixed reactions. While some viewers expressed support, insisting she’s being unfairly targeted, others criticized her, with many calling for justice on behalf of those who allegedly lost money. Several commenters mentioned how individuals had sold land, livestock, or taken loans to fund the promised job placements abroad — only to be left stranded.
Amidst this backlash, some followers claimed that Rish might be more effective in helping people obtain visas rather than securing actual jobs. A few even argued that Kenyans are overly reliant on middlemen for services they could handle themselves, like visa applications.
In response to these claims, Rish maintains her innocence and insists that she has been misunderstood. She spoke about how the legal situation has affected her personal relationships, stating that those she once called friends began to distance themselves. According to her, most stopped picking her calls when the legal allegations surfaced, leaving her feeling abandoned during a difficult time.
She also shared how overwhelming the situation has become, recounting how her phone rang incessantly until she resorted to redirecting calls to other devices just to keep up.
Despite the gravity of the charges she faces, Rish appears determined to continue promoting her brand and services, even as the court case looms over her. Her upcoming live session is expected to draw significant attention, especially from those who have followed the unfolding saga from the beginning. Whether she’ll manage to clear her name or further fuel public skepticism remains to be seen.
