Sean Kingston and his mother, Janice Turner, have been found guilty of multiple wire fraud charges following a courtroom trial in Florida. The verdict was delivered on March 28, 2025, bringing an emotional reaction from the singer, who broke down in court, pleading for officials to “protect my mother.”
The sentencing is scheduled for July 11, 2025. Prosecutors confirmed that both Kingston and Turner could each face up to 20 years in prison.
The charges stem from allegations that they defrauded jewelers, a car dealership company, and a TV installment company. This conviction follows a history of legal troubles, including a 2006 bank fraud conviction and previous legal disputes.
In May 2024, authorities arrested Kingston and his mother in California after a police raid at his residence. By the end of that month, he agreed to be extradited to Florida. A Florida court set his bond at $100,000 in June 2024 after he waived his right to challenge the extradition. At the time of his arrest, Kingston was reportedly on probation for allegedly trafficking stolen property.
The Jamaican-born singer, widely recognized for hits such as “Beautiful Girls,” “Fire Burning,” and “Eenie Meenie,” initially addressed the situation on social media before his arrest. He reassured fans by stating, “I am good and so is my mother. My lawyers are handling everything as we speak.”
Following the guilty verdict in 2025, Kingston shared a picture of his mother on Instagram, expressing his love and support. “My Only Queen Forever,” he wrote. “Love you, I promise you this is not the end.”
Turner, known to many as Mama Kingston, had previously posted on Instagram in celebration of her birthday. She expressed gratitude for her family, particularly her sisters, children, and friends, for making her day special. Her son also publicly honored her, calling her the “Best Mother ever created in my heart and eyes.”
Kingston remains a well-known figure in the music industry. His breakthrough song, “Beautiful Girls,” has amassed 1.3 billion views on YouTube as of 2025. Despite his musical success, his legal troubles have cast a shadow over his career, and this latest conviction marks a significant chapter in his legal battles.
