Maisha Magic Plus is set to captivate audiences with the launch of its highly anticipated drama series, Sarabi, premiering on Monday, 24 February 2025. The series promises an emotional rollercoaster of love, betrayal, and redemption, with celebrated actors Tonny Njuguna and Wanjiku Waweru taking the lead roles.
Set in the picturesque fictional Vuno Zuri Coffee Farm, Sarabi follows the life of Matthew MacOdimba, a man who begins his journey as a coffee picker on a plantation. It is here that he meets Annabel, the only daughter of the plantation’s owners. Their romance flourishes but is abruptly cut short by Annabel’s mother, Rita, forcing both young lovers to endure years of separation and emotional turmoil.
Fast forward over two decades, fate intervenes, bringing Matthew and Annabel back together. Now both established professionals, they are faced with difficult choices as they navigate life’s unpredictable challenges. Will they reignite their love, or will the past continue to stand in their way?
The series features an impressive ensemble cast, including Marrianne Nungo (Supa Modo, Pepeta), Georgina Gachanja (Big Girls Small World), Simon Thuo (Domina), Faith Wanjiku, and Kirumburu Nganga (Salem). Produced by Lwal Griffin of Reel Pix Media, Sarabi delves into themes of love, legacy, and the bonds that define individuals.
“Sarabi explores the idea that love, in many ways, can be a mirage an illusion shaped by our perceptions and circumstances. Yet, in all its forms, love transcends time, revealing both its fragility and power,” says Griffin. He also highlights how the series sheds light on the growing identity crisis within families, where detachment from one’s roots can lead to unintended and life-altering relationships.
Margaret Mathore, Head of Channels at M-Net, expressed excitement about the show’s premiere, stating, “Sarabi is a compelling story about family, heritage, and the enduring power of our roots. It reminds us that our roots are not just where we come from; they are the foundation of who we are. We are proud to partner with Reel Pix to share this important story with our viewers.”
With its richly woven narrative and an exceptional cast, Sarabi is expected to resonate with Kenyan audiences and beyond, sparking conversations on love’s endurance, family ties, and the secrets that shape our destinies.
Tune in to Sarabi when it premieres on Monday, 24 February 2025, at 7:30 pm, exclusively on Maisha Magic Plus (DStv channel 163/GOtv channel 3), with new episodes airing every Monday to Wednesday.
