Travis Scott is setting his sights on unexpected collaborations, hinting at potential team-ups with Taylor Swift and Sabrina Carpenter. The Houston-born rapper, known for hits like Sicko Mode and Goosebumps, recently revealed in an interview with Billboard that he has “ill ideas” for working with the two pop sensations.
The 33-year-old artist, who has previously collaborated with Beyoncé, The Weeknd, and Drake, expressed his desire to experiment with different sounds. “It’s this band called Khruangbin I want to work with,” he said, referring to the Houston-based psychedelic rock group. “This might be crazy, but I would love to get Taylor Swift or Sabrina Carpenter on a hook.”
If these collaborations come to fruition, they would mark a major crossover between hip-hop and pop. Taylor Swift has worked with rappers before, including Kendrick Lamar and Future, while Sabrina Carpenter has recently gained widespread recognition with her chart-topping single Espresso.
Travis also dismissed any talk of a rivalry with Sabrina Carpenter after her latest album, Short n’ Sweet, outperformed his 10th-anniversary re-release of Days Before Rodeo on the charts. Unbothered by the numbers, he said, “Charts, shmarts, man. Who measures that? Her album’s cool. Days Before Rodeo is 10 years old. It all works.”
His response highlights his focus on longevity rather than chart competition. Scott has built a reputation for delivering highly curated musical experiences, from his groundbreaking Astroworld album to last year’s Utopia.
Travis also looked back on his debut studio album, Rodeo, which was released in 2015. He remains proud of the record but regrets one thing about its original release. “The only thing I wish from that album, and I probably should do for the 10-year anniversary, is that the action figure would come out on a USB and not a CD,” he admitted.
As for his next project, the rapper is currently working on his fifth studio album, a follow-up to Utopia. While he didn’t reveal the title, he hinted at what fans can expect. “I feel like for Utopia, I was striving to push things to a high level. I’m still reaching for that. I’ve been having so much fun with music… I think it’s cool to be artistic and have fun with it.”
With new music on the way and potential pop collaborations, Travis Scott continues to push boundaries and surprise his audience. Fans will be eager to see if his vision with Swift or Carpenter materializes in the near future.
