Kenyan actor Tyler Mbaya, widely known for his role in Machachari, has opened up about his journey on the reality dating show Take Me Home Season 2. The show, now airing on Showmax, reunites him with his ex, content creator Georgina Njenga, in a setting filled with emotions, revelations, and drama.
Tyler and Georgina’s love story captured the hearts of many when they began dating in 2020. Their relationship flourished, and they welcomed a child in 2022. However, the romance took a turn in 2023, leading to their eventual breakup. Now, the two find themselves in an unexpected reunion on Take Me Home, navigating past wounds and new realities.
In an exclusive interview with Showmax, Tyler admitted that the show’s premise initially caught him off guard. “Honestly, the news caught me by surprise. I’ve never been part of something like this before – a group of people in a resort, all entangled in different relationship dynamics. I knew I would be spending time with my baby mama, and at first, that felt a little cringe. But I thought, ‘Why not? Let’s give it a try,’” he revealed.
While the early days on the show were awkward, particularly adjusting to Georgina’s presence alongside her new partner, Tyler embraced the experience. “It was a challenge, but I think I managed to find my balance in the situation,” he noted.
When asked if he was open to rekindling the romance, Tyler was clear that his participation was not about getting back together but rather about fostering a healthier co-parenting relationship. “Closure was important to her, and I wanted to support that to help our relationship move forward,” he explained.
Throughout the show, Tyler underwent significant personal growth. He discovered more about himself, particularly in terms of self-love and the type of energy he wants to surround himself with. “Being there put me in a self-discovery phase. I learned a lot about myself – especially about self-love.”
Despite the drama surrounding the villa, Tyler found the experience entertaining rather than overwhelming. “Sure, there was drama left, right, and centre, but I wasn’t caught in the thick of it,” he said.
Reflecting on his past relationship, he acknowledged that he may have unintentionally suppressed parts of Georgina’s personality. “I have come to see that it’s good for her to explore those sides with someone else. I also realised we weren’t the right match, and there were signs I ignored during the relationship.”
While the show was filled with tense moments, Tyler also found humor in some situations, particularly Georgina’s reaction to his moving on. “During game night, she pulled some tantrums that I didn’t expect. I’m just a free soul and she needs to understand that.”
As Take Me Home unfolds, fans can expect more emotional revelations and dramatic turns. Whether Tyler and Georgina find lasting closure or new beginnings, the show promises to be an engaging watch.
