Ereteti Mixed Secondary School in Kajiado County recently celebrated a significant milestone as it received a donation of ten computers from the Ministry of Education (MoE). This generous contribution is part of a broader government initiative aimed at enhancing ICT education and bridging the digital learning gap within Kenya’s educational landscape.
The computers were officially handed over during the school’s Annual General Meeting (AGM), an event that saw the active participation of parents, students, teachers, and other key stakeholders. The AGM provided a platform to not only highlight the school’s achievements but also discuss its future aspirations. The event underscored the importance of community and collaborative efforts in advancing educational goals.
Abdulaziz A. Farah, Commissioner at the National Cohesion and Integration Commission, was the chief guest at the AGM. In his address, Farah highlighted the Commission’s extensive work across Kenya, emphasizing the need for patriotism and national unity amidst the country’s rich diversity. He encouraged students to perceive success as a continuous journey rather than a final destination, sharing his own experiences of overcoming educational challenges to achieve excellence at top national institutions.
The School Principal, Paul Halake, expressed his optimism about the school’s trajectory, noting that the new computers would significantly enhance the students’ learning experience. Halake praised the ongoing collaboration between the school and various stakeholders, which he believes is crucial for improving both performance and infrastructure. His remarks reflected a broader vision of leveraging technology to foster academic growth and prepare students for the digital age.
Adding to the day’s significance, Paul Tobiko, Director of Communication at the Office of the Governor of Kajiado County and a pioneer student of Ereteti, took the stage to inspire the current students. Tobiko encouraged them to surpass expectations and aim for greatness, drawing from his own educational journey and professional accomplishments. His speech served as a motivational boost for students to pursue their goals with determination and resilience.
Jeremiah Sailoji, Chairman of the Board of Management, also voiced his confidence in the school’s future. He urged all stakeholders to actively contribute to creating a supportive and harmonious educational environment. Sailoji’s call for collective involvement highlighted the importance of community support in achieving educational excellence and sustaining progress.
The AGM was further enriched by contributions from the KCB Kiserian Branch team, who have partnered with the school to plant trees and enhance the green spaces within the Ereteti community. This environmental initiative aligns with the broader goals of community development and sustainability, reinforcing the school’s commitment to holistic growth.
Overall, the AGM at Ereteti Mixed Secondary School marked a pivotal moment in the school’s development. The donation of computers and the collaborative efforts from various stakeholders reflect a concerted effort to improve educational outcomes and foster a supportive learning environment. As the school continues to advance, the collective commitment of its community members and partners will undoubtedly play a key role in shaping its future successes.
