Several Cabinet Secretaries have made a series of appointments and re-appointments to various state agencies, as announced in a gazette notice dated April 25, 2025.
Agriculture and Livestock Development CS Mutahi Kagwe appointed John Thongori as a Member of the Board of Directors of the National Cereals and Produce Board for a three-year term starting April 25, 2025. Kagwe also re-appointed Ezekiel Kiprop to continue serving on the Pest Control Products Board for a similar term.
In the water sector, Water, Sanitation, and Irrigation CS Eric Muuga re-appointed James Wainaina as a Member of the Board of Directors of the Athi Water Works Development Agency, also for three years.
Defence CS Soipan Tuya made several appointments to strengthen the Kenya Ordinance Factories Corporation (KOFC), naming Brigadier (Rtd.) J N Mururi, Brigadier (Rtd.) P T Ibeere, and Brigadier (Rtd.) D C Bartonjo as board members for a three-year period. Tuya also appointed Edward Kimosop to the Advisory Committee on Military Veterans for one year, effective May 1, 2025.
Attorney-General Dorcas Oduor appointed Agatha Lutala Karani, Sarah Wanjiru Migwi, and Dan Okoth Aceda to the Board of Directors of the Kenya Copyright Board for three years.
Labour and Social Protection CS Alfred Mutua appointed six members — Elizabeth Chesang, Joseph Etyang, Freddah L. Seleto, Hannah N. Njeri, Duncan M. Chengo, and Ambassador Aggrey Shitsama — to the National Council for Persons with Disabilities for a three-year term.
In education, the CS re-appointed Margaret C. Koech, Joakim Mulaa, and Daniel Mutai to serve on the Council of Ol’lessos National Polytechnic for three years from February 25, 2025.
Lands CS Alice Wahome appointed Eunice Macharia as Chairperson of the Estate Agents Registration Board for a year and named Mary Njeri Kamunyu and Regina Njoki Njue to the Land Surveyors’ Board for two years. Daniel Maina was appointed Chairperson of the Valuers Registration Board for three years.
Additionally, President William Ruto extended the term of the Technical Working Group on Gender-Based Violence (GBV), including femicide, by 60 days until June 8, 2025. The extension was announced by Head of Public Service, Felix Koskei.
