Trans nzoia County Commissioner Gideon Oyagi has called on government employees to foster unity and collaboration to ensure the successful implementation of government programs, particularly the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA).
Speaking during a team-building exercise held on the slopes of Mt. Elgon, which brought together heads of departments, Oyagi emphasized the importance of synergy in improving service delivery. He noted that a multi-agency approach among government employees would be the key to realizing meaningful results in the implementation of BETA.
“There is a need to develop partnerships and close networks amongst ourselves if we have to deliver on the government’s Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda. There’s no way you can deliver if you decide to go alone,” Oyagi stated.
He urged national government employees to take full advantage of the available in-service training opportunities, which aim to equip officers with essential skills and knowledge necessary for efficient service delivery. According to Oyagi, these training programs will not only enhance their professional capabilities but also play a crucial role in the successful execution of government policies.
“The government has made clear its intention to ensure that employees are equipped with skills and knowledge necessary for service delivery. It is for this reason that many in-service training programs have been made available. Therefore, it is upon us to take advantage of these opportunities,” he challenged.
The County Commissioner also addressed concerns regarding alcohol and drug addiction, cautioning that such vices compromise productivity and, in the long run, deteriorate the health of affected individuals. However, he reassured that Trans Nzoia County has not recorded any major cases of substance abuse among government employees, a positive trend that he encouraged them to maintain.
The team-building event served as a platform to strengthen cooperation among government officials, fostering a shared commitment to achieving the county’s development goals. Oyagi’s remarks underscored the government’s dedication to ensuring that its workforce remains well-equipped and motivated to execute its mandate effectively.
His call for unity and continuous learning reflects a broader national effort to enhance public service delivery and improve economic outcomes for all citizens through the successful implementation of BETA.
