Kenya Power has announced scheduled power outages set to affect several regions across six counties on Thursday. The planned interruptions, which are part of routine network maintenance and upgrades, will take place in Nairobi, Kisii, Kiambu, Kilifi, Kirinyaga, and Embu counties, with power expected to be off from 9 am to 5 pm in most of the areas.
In Nairobi, parts of Pangani will be affected. Specific locations include Marang’a Road, Guru Nanak Hospital, Pangani Police, Radiant Hospital, Juja Road, Pangani Girls, KICD Headquarters, and neighboring areas such as Fair View Road and Muratina Road.
Kisii County will see blackouts in Nyamache, Igare, and Kiobegi. Institutions and markets affected include Nyamache Tea Factory, Matierio Secondary, Nyamagwa Girls and Boys, Boitangare Secondary, Igare Market, and Safaricom Booster sites in the region.
In Kirinyaga, residents of Kagio, Kiunga, and Kandongu will experience interruptions. Key affected spots include part of Kagio Town, Kiamachiri Polytechnic, Mutithi Girls, Gitooni Primary, and surrounding areas.
Embu County‘s Gatondo and Maramuri areas will be without electricity. Embu High School, Kamutungi, Muiganania, and parts of Muthatari are listed among affected sites.
Kiambu County’s Kamiti area will also see widespread outages. Affected institutions and markets include Ngorongo Health Centre, Kamwangi Market, Igegania Hospital, Gatei High, and Nyamagara Market. Numerous schools and trading centers like Mbici Market and Kagumoini Market are also impacted.
In Kilifi, areas around Kokotoni, Kanamai, and Mtwapa will experience cuts. Notable places include Iron Africa, Kaydee Quarry, Somali Village, and large-scale businesses like Cocacola Bottlers, Mombasa Apparel, and Milly Fruits. Educational institutions such as Northcoast Medical College and Junju Secondary will also be affected.
Kenya Power has advised residents in the listed areas to plan accordingly and remain patient as the company undertakes essential work to enhance service reliability and power distribution. Customers are urged to treat all electrical lines as live during the outage periods.
