Kenya Power has announced planned electricity interruptions in select areas of Homa Bay and Murang’a counties on Monday, March 3, as part of ongoing network maintenance. The scheduled outages will last for several hours, affecting businesses, schools, and residents in the affected regions.
According to a statement shared on X (formerly Twitter), the power cuts will take place between 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM in Homa Bay and from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM in Murang’a. Kenya Power explained that these interruptions are necessary to improve service reliability and enhance the efficiency of power distribution in the affected areas.
Affected Areas in Homa Bay
In Homa Bay, the scheduled power outage will impact various locations, including:
- Ngeri
- Nyagwethe
- Kikubi
- Nyandiwa
- Kiabuya
- Laknyiero
- Magunga
Additionally, institutions such as the National Youth Service (NYS), Orore Beach, and Our Lady of Orore Primary School, along with surrounding customers, will also experience power interruptions.
Affected Areas in Murang’a
Residents and businesses in Murang’a will face an extended power cut from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The affected areas include:
- Mukuyu Market
- Magunas Supermarket
- Muwasco Offices
- Murang’a High School
- Kengen Mathioya
- Hon Matiba Residence
- Kahuhia Girls High School
- Kirogo Boys High School
Other locations such as Karuri Market, Muchungucha Market, Kayahwe Water Treatment Plant, Yamugwe Market, Kamaguta Market, Ndutumi Market, and Maragi Secondary School will also be impacted.
Kenya Power has urged residents and businesses in the affected areas to make necessary arrangements to mitigate the impact of the outages. The company also advised users to treat all electrical connections as live during the maintenance period to ensure safety.
