Kenya Power has announced planned electricity interruptions in Nairobi and Kisumu counties on Sunday, March 2, as part of routine network maintenance. The outages will affect various areas in the two counties at different times of the day, with power disruptions lasting up to eight hours in some regions.
Power Interruption in Nairobi (9:00 AM – 5:00 PM)
Residents and businesses in parts of Nairobi will experience power cuts from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The affected areas include:
- Lunga Road
- Wundanyi Road
- Industries and Businesses: Metro Concept Plastics, Tecno Tanks, Synresins, Rok Industries, Wel Rods Gases, Advance Plastics, Budget Shoes, Uzuri Manufacturers, Halar Industries, and Uzuri Foods.
- Makadara Railways Workshop and other adjacent customers.
The scheduled maintenance in these areas aims to enhance the reliability of the power supply and address any technical issues that could cause future outages.
Power Interruption in Kisumu (8:30 AM – 5:00 PM)
In Kisumu County, the blackout will occur between 8:30 AM and 5:00 PM in the following areas:
- Muhoroni Town
- Mtwara
- Rose Garden
- Koru Market
- Kapsamwe
- Bishop Okoth, Kaptuyet, Kadenge Booster, Ushirika, Kotetini, Mariwa, Kapkluben Coffee, and surrounding customers.
The maintenance work in Kisumu will focus on upgrading power infrastructure to improve efficiency and prevent unplanned blackouts in the future.
Kenya Power has urged affected residents and businesses to make necessary preparations ahead of the scheduled interruptions. Those relying on electricity for essential services are advised to plan accordingly, while businesses that depend on power-intensive operations may need to make alternative arrangements.
