Kenya Power has announced scheduled electricity outages that will affect various regions across seven counties on Thursday. The outages, part of regular maintenance and system upgrades, will last from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., impacting residents and businesses in Nairobi, Kajiado, Uasin Gishu, Kakamega, Meru, Kiambu, and Mombasa.
In Nairobi, areas along General Mathenge Drive, Mpaka Road, parts of 2nd and 3rd Parklands, Eldama Ravine, Suswa Road, and Kusi Lane will be without power. Kenya Power advises customers in these areas to make necessary arrangements.
Kajiado County will also experience widespread interruptions. Affected areas include St. Patrick, Mwalimu Road, Oleteyani, Ilmasin, Olooses, Kisamis, Homeboys, Lingaloj, Ilidoriak, Tinga, Esonorua Matasia, Nkoroi, Olesurutia, Tajiri Road, Merisho, and surrounding areas.
In Uasin Gishu, the blackout will affect residents in Mbingwa, Ivigwa, Sango, Likuyani, Frank, and Lugulu. These disruptions may hinder business operations and daily routines, especially in rural areas reliant on electricity for essential services.
Kakamega County’s affected areas include Butere Market, Shashiala Market, Maondo, Khomailo, Mapole, Eshishiebo Market, and Emanyulia Market, which are key trading centers in the region.
Meru County faces widespread outages, particularly in areas with educational institutions and health facilities. Affected places include Meru Teachers College, Kaaga Girls High School, KEMU University, and various primary and secondary schools, as well as markets and radio stations such as Tuliza FM.
In Kiambu, numerous public institutions and businesses will be impacted, including Munyu Girls, Munyu Police Station, Juja Farm Athi, Fresha Dairies, Palm House Dairies, and Githunguri shopping areas. Essential services like healthcare and banking may also be temporarily affected.
Finally, Mombasa County will see outages in Husein Dairy, Kimbunga, Marimani, Voroni, Mwakirunge Dumpsite and Primary, Vifwanjoni, Bwagamoyo, KAA, and John Ria.
Kenya Power has encouraged residents in all affected areas to plan ahead and take necessary precautions during the interruption period. The utility company reiterated its commitment to improving power reliability through scheduled maintenance and infrastructure upgrades.
