Kenya Power has announced a planned power maintenance exercise scheduled for Tuesday, April 29, 2025, that will affect several areas across Machakos, Uasin Gishu, and Kiambu counties. The power interruptions, which will mostly run from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., are part of the utility firm’s regular network maintenance and upgrade program.
In Machakos County, the power outage will affect the EPZ area and surrounding zones. Businesses and residents in Nordo, Hela, African Coffee Roasters, Capital Industrial, and nearby areas have been advised to prepare for a full-day interruption.
Uasin Gishu County will see disruptions in two locations. At Lugari Station, power will be cut from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The affected areas include Lugari Station, Mufutu, Lugari Boys’, Mukhuyu, Lunyito, and Frank. In Langas, the blackout will run from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., impacting Langas Corner, Ndupawa, Jijenge Quarry, Yamumbi, and surrounding customers.
In Kiambu County, several areas in Juja, Juja Farm, and Athi will face outages from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Key locations affected include Corner Brook, KPP Production, Space & Style, St. Dominic School, Mastores, Abba Salama, and Juja Farm Market. Others include Jujafarm Polytechnic, Air Harries kwa Mzungu, Nyumba ya Wazee, Zone P, and Mwireri.
Additionally, Wangige and Mwimuto residents in Kiambu County should also expect interruptions, with areas such as Wangige Market, Gathiga Market, Mwimuto Market, and Kibiku being affected.
Kenya Power has advised customers in the listed regions to make necessary arrangements ahead of the scheduled outages. The utility company emphasized that planned outages are crucial for enhancing the reliability and efficiency of the national power grid.
While most interruptions are scheduled, Kenya Power noted that unplanned outages can occur due to equipment failure, vandalism, extreme weather, or even wildlife interference. Customers are encouraged to report any faults promptly and stay updated through official communication channels.
