Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) has announced scheduled power interruptions in 12 counties on Tuesday, affecting various parts of Nairobi, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Kiambu, Kilifi, Mombasa, Machakos, Homa Bay, Nyeri, Nyamira, and Marsabit. The outages, set to occur between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., are intended to facilitate routine maintenance and system upgrades.
Affected Areas
Nairobi
Residents in areas such as National Museum, Navigation, Stanbic, Westlands Road, and Ngara Road will experience power cuts from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Additionally, Galleria Gardens, St. Thomas Seminary, and Catholic University will also be affected. Other impacted locations include Mugo Kibiru Road, Joseph Kangethe Road, Moi Girls High School, Woodley East, and Toi Market.
Machakos
Power interruptions from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. will affect Maruba Dam, People’s Park, AIC Nyayo, and several market centers, including Muumandu, Kola, and Katoloni.
Homa Bay
Residents in Adiedo Secondary, Obilo Primary, and surrounding areas such as Omboga Dis, Kunya, and Nyawino will face outages between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.
Nyamira
Areas like Tonga SDA Church, Nyamaiya Town, Corner S Resort, and Nyansabakwa High School will experience power cuts from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Nyeri
Outages from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. will impact Kirimara Farm, Gamerock Shopping Centre, and Mt. Kenya Junior and Senior Schools, among others.
Marsabit
Residents in Marsabit Town, Karare Market, and Badassa Water will face interruptions from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Kiambu
Areas such as Banana, Muchatha, and Juja Farm will experience outages from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Kilifi & Mombasa
Kilifi’s Greenwood, KMA, and Milly Fruits, as well as Mombasa’s Kiembeni Green State, Naivas Bamburi, and Kadzandani, will be affected from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Western Kenya
Parts of Kakamega, Vihiga, and Bungoma, including Shianda, Ekero, and Bukembe Market, will experience disruptions.
KPLC has urged affected residents to plan accordingly and apologized for the inconvenience. The scheduled maintenance aims to enhance service reliability across the regions.
