The scheduled blackouts, which will last for several hours, are part of ongoing efforts to enhance electricity reliability and safety.
Nairobi
In Nairobi, power cuts will occur from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Areas set to be affected include Syokimau Railway Station and surrounding customers. Additionally, major businesses and logistics hubs near Jomo Kenyatta International Airport will experience outages, including Mitchell Cotts Group, Swissport Kenya, Airflo, Crowne Plaza, Vegro, DB Schenker, Air Connection, Kuhne+Nagel, Four Points Hotel, Airport Trade Centre, Global Freights Logistics, KAA, Siginon Aviation, Acceler, and Freight Complex.
Machakos
In Machakos County, power interruptions will take place from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Affected locations include Gateway Mall, Nation Printers, Multi Mechanical, Doshi, Signode, Soham, Sawada Villas, Loneview, Lynwood, Muthama Heights, Shaba, Mwananchi Road, Airport Road, Kiungani Road, and Community Road.
Vihiga
Vihiga County will also experience a 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM power cut. Areas to be affected include Cheptul Market, Shiru, Kaptech, Muhudu, Sigong’o, Upendo, Musasa Market, Kakubudu, Musunji, Isiru Secondary School, Jiviriri, Kamulembe, and Shaviringa.
Nyeri
Residents of Nyeri County will face one of the longest scheduled power outages, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Key locations set to be affected include Othaya Town, Othaya Hospital, Mwai Kibaki Hospital, Othaya Boys, Othaya Girls, Gathumbi, Iriani, Kairuthi, Thunguri, Waihara Market, Kabebero, Kihuri Water Treatment, Hon. Kibaki Residence, KCB Othaya, Cooperative Bank, Family Bank, and Equity Bank.
According to Kenya Power, the scheduled maintenance aims to enhance grid stability, replace aging infrastructure, and prevent unexpected outages in the future. While the company acknowledges the inconvenience, it emphasizes that such routine maintenance is essential for ensuring a reliable electricity supply.
