Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) has announced scheduled power interruptions in select areas across Siaya, Nyeri, Tharaka Nithi, and Mombasa counties on Wednesday. The company stated in a public notice on Tuesday evening that the planned outages will facilitate system maintenance and enhance the reliability of the power grid.
The power interruptions will take place between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., affecting various businesses, institutions, and households in the mentioned counties.
Affected Areas
Siaya County
Areas within Boro and Nyadorera will experience power cuts. Specific locations include Mwer Secondary School, Nyandheho, Mahero, Dibuoro Secondary School, and Nyadorera Market. The power supply is expected to be restored by 5 p.m.
Nyeri County
Residents and businesses in Kamwenja and Mathari Hospital areas will be affected. The specific locations include Mathari Hospital, Kamwenja Teachers College, KBC Nyeri Hills, Ihururu, Njoguini, Karunaini, Nyarugumu, Kihuyo, Juakali, Ngoru, Miagayuini, Kimathi Secondary School, and Muhoya Secondary School. The power cut will begin at 8 a.m. and is set to end at 5 p.m.
Tharaka Nithi County
KPLC has scheduled outages in Kambandi Market and Njaina. The affected locations include Kambandi Market, Kambandi Dispensary, Weru Market, Weru Polytechnic, Mukuthuku Primary School, Iruku Primary School, Chiku, Rukundi, County Girls, Gathigiririni Primary, Ntuntuni, Njaina Primary School, and Mutunguruni. Power will be cut at 8:30 a.m. and restored by 5:30 p.m.
Mombasa County
Parts of Jomvu, Utange, and Fisheries will experience outages. In Jomvu, affected areas include Icolo, Black Devil, Devki, Shreeji, Total Petrol Station, Excel, Romollas, and Chai Traders. Meanwhile, Fisheries and Utange areas, including Mwembeni, Palestina, Utanga Barawa, Huduma Centre, Seven Star, Nimrod Tabu, Utange Primary, Joho Girls Elizabeth, and part of Bombo Village, will also be impacted. Power will be switched off at 9 a.m. and restored by 5 p.m.
