Kenya Power has announced that several parts of the country will experience power interruptions on Sunday, April 27, 2025. The utility company cited necessary system maintenance as the reason behind the planned outages. The affected counties are Nairobi, Nyeri, Mombasa, and Uasin Gishu, with power cuts scheduled between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.
In Nairobi, the blackout will occur from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., affecting areas around Grain Bulk, Syokimau Railway Station, Complast, and nearby customers. Residents and businesses in these locations have been urged to prepare for the temporary disruption.
Uasin Gishu County will also experience widespread outages from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Affected areas include Soy, Likuyani, Imbinga, Ivugwi, Lumino, Navilus, Kabobo Farm, Kipsomba, Tarakwa, Chemoset, Lugulu, Chemororoch, Furfural, Mawe Tatu, Nangili, Kongoni, and adjacent customers.
Nyeri County is set to face extensive power cuts, with some areas experiencing outages for the entire day and others for part of the day. Full-day outages will hit places like Kahiga Market, Wariruta Market, Tumutumu Hospital, and Mathaithi, among many others. Meanwhile, Nyeri Town and its surroundings, including Outspan Hospital, Green Hills, and Kagumo TTC, will experience interruptions from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Other notable affected locations include Naromoru Town, Aberdare Country Club, and Mt. Kenya Academy.
Mombasa residents in specific areas will also be impacted. From 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., areas such as Pamba Road, Miracle Park, Kenya Railways, Changamwe Police, and Bangladesh will experience disruptions. Institutions like VTTI, KTDA, and Kensalt are also on the list.
Kenya Power has advised customers in the affected areas to take necessary precautions. The company emphasized that the maintenance work is vital to improving service reliability and reducing unplanned outages in the future.
Consumers are encouraged to treat all electrical installations as live during the interruptions. Kenya Power has also provided avenues for customers to seek further assistance via their customer care lines.
