Kenyans looking to connect with nature this Easter season have something to smile about as the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) rolls out a range of incentives and safety measures aimed at boosting domestic tourism. The initiative, dubbed “Easter Moto Moto in Kenya Parks,” runs from April 18 to 27, 2025, and promises memorable experiences for holidaymakers visiting national parks and reserves.
In a bid to accommodate the expected surge in visitor numbers, KWS has assured the public that all parks will operate from 6am to 6pm, with extra staff deployed at major entry points and high-traffic areas. Additionally, infrastructure maintenance teams have been working round the clock to inspect and repair roads and visitor facilities, ensuring a smooth experience throughout the holiday.
To enhance safety and conservation efforts, KWS has ramped up patrols and is working closely with national law enforcement agencies to deter illegal activities and provide rapid response during emergencies. Visitors can expect to see increased presence of park personnel enforcing rules on wildlife proximity, designated routes, and speed limits — all aimed at protecting both tourists and wildlife.
In a further incentive for local tourism, KWS announced that registered tour operators who bring groups of 10 domestic tourists will receive a complimentary entry pass. For those looking to extend their adventure, Mbugani Home accommodations are offering a 10% discount for bookings made during the campaign period, with the offer valid until June 30, 2025.
Adding a festive twist, the first domestic visitors at 10 selected parks, including Meru National Park and Shimba Hills National Reserve, will receive daily gifts for the first five days of the campaign. Meanwhile, Nairobi National Park will offer a complimentary shuttle service from Good Friday through Easter Monday to ease traffic congestion.
KWS is encouraging all visitors to make advance bookings via the eCitizen platform at kws.ecitizen.go.ke to avoid delays at park gates, particularly on peak days.
With its mix of adventure, discounts, and local pride, this Easter promises to be wild in the best way possible.
