Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs, Musalia Mudavadi, led an Iftar food distribution initiative in Kibra to support families observing the holy month of Ramadan. The initiative, spearheaded by UAE Ambassador to Kenya, Salem Ibrahim Al Naqbi, aims to benefit 823 households in the area.
The food distribution event took place in Makina and Kibera Constituency, where families received essential food supplies to sustain them during the fasting period. Mudavadi expressed gratitude to Ambassador Al Naqbi for the UAE’s generosity, emphasizing the strong diplomatic ties between Kenya and the UAE.
“This donation is a testament to the strong bonds between Kenya and the UAE. It will go a long way in ensuring many families observe Ramadan with dignity,” said Mudavadi.
He also praised the leadership of Kibra Jamia Mosque for their dedication to serving the community, acknowledging their ongoing efforts in uplifting the local Muslim population.
Addressing the longstanding land concerns of the Nubian community, Mudavadi reassured residents that the government remains committed to resolving the issue. He confirmed that the 288 acres designated for the Nubian community remain under the government’s jurisdiction and that steps are being taken to ensure its rightful allocation and proper utilization.
Mudavadi also called on the UAE to explore modernizing mosques in Kibra, inspired by the well-equipped places of worship in the UAE. “I encourage you to look into modernizing places of worship in Kibra with well-designed, spacious, and fully equipped facilities that better serve the community,” he stated.
He further emphasized the government’s Affordable Housing Project, highlighting its role in improving living conditions for Kibra residents. “The government’s vision is to provide quality, affordable housing for all. We are committed to ensuring Kibra residents benefit from this program,” he noted.
Mudavadi also reflected on regional security concerns, urging Kenyans to pray for peace in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). “During this season of Ramadan, let us pray for peace in the DRC because if we don’t, it may eventually affect us,” he cautioned.
Ambassador Al Naqbi reaffirmed the UAE’s commitment to supporting Kenya and fostering strong diplomatic and economic ties. The Supreme Council of Kenya Muslims leadership lauded the government’s commitment to addressing issues affecting the Muslim community, including duty waivers on essential supplies during Ramadan.
Mudavadi’s visit highlighted the significance of partnerships in uplifting vulnerable communities, reinforcing the spirit of solidarity during Ramadan.
