Deputy Chief Registrar Paul Ndemo Maina has been appointed as the spokesperson of the Judiciary. His appointment, announced on Thursday, is expected to enhance communication within the institution while ensuring the public remains well-informed about judicial services and processes.
As the Judiciary spokesperson, Ndemo will serve as the primary point of contact for disseminating official information, clarifying judicial matters, and addressing public inquiries. This role is particularly crucial in fostering trust and maintaining an open dialogue between the Judiciary and its stakeholders.
The Judiciary emphasized that Ndemo’s appointment underscores its commitment to effective communication, reinforcing the institution’s dedication to transparency and accessibility. His extensive experience in the justice sector, combined with his deep understanding of judicial operations, places him in a strong position to bridge the gap between the Judiciary and the public.
Ndemo’s responsibilities as Deputy Chief Registrar already include overseeing the administration and management of the Judiciary, acting as its accounting officer, and preparing reports and proposals on administrative matters. His new role as spokesperson complements these duties, reinforcing his influence in shaping public perception and understanding of the Judiciary’s work.
Ndemo’s career in the legal field spans over two decades. He joined the Judiciary in August 2018 as Deputy Registrar, bringing with him a wealth of experience from his tenure at the Office of the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (ODPP). Between 2006 and 2018, he steadily rose through the ranks to become Senior Assistant Director of Public Prosecutions, a role in which he played a crucial part in shaping prosecutorial policies and legal frameworks.
Academically, Ndemo is well-equipped for his new role. He holds a Master of Arts degree in International Studies and a Bachelor of Laws degree, both from the University of Nairobi. Additionally, he has a certificate in Strategic and Security Studies from the National Defence College and a Postgraduate Diploma from the Kenya School of Law. He was admitted to the Bar in 1998, further cementing his legal expertise.
The Judiciary’s decision to appoint Ndemo as its spokesperson reflects its broader vision of enhancing public trust and engagement. With his experience and academic credentials, he is well-positioned to lead communication efforts, ensuring that the Judiciary remains responsive and accessible to the people it serves.
